The roads were still as busy as ever as people shopped and cabs whizzed past in dizzying speeds. There were no quiet places in Lumiose City, save for one alleyway. This alleyway was known for how little sound manages to penetrate the open space, letting one catch their breath before going back to the nauseating city life.
But even the quietest of places harbor the loudest of folks.
Once midnight approaches, the alleyway turns its reputation upside down.
How, you may ask? Simple.
Pokémon find the fun in anything, they truly do. Even in an old alleyway with nothing more than walls.
At midnight, you can hear the cries of joy as Pokémon of all kinds gather up and party all night long. They share berries and feast together, mess around with any valuables they find lying around, and they always make sure to leave after daybreak.
However, say, a human comes into play. A young boy, about ten years of age. He steps in, curious, and promptly ruins the "tradition". His name is Ash Ketchum.
Ash couldn't sleep a wink. After all, the Pokémon Center was close to the infamous alleyway. Nudging Pikachu with the back of his hand, he whispered to Pikachu.
"Hey, Pikachu, do you want to come with me?" he asked, looking at his companions. Clemont and Bonnie were sleeping on one couch, Bonnie leaning on her brother's shoulder while Clemont's head was tilted just a bit. Serena had an entirely different couch for herself, since her sleeping positions are so extravagant, it's hard to sleep around her.
Pikachu opened his eyes wearily, blinking slowly at first, then mustered enough energy to sit upright. "Pika pi..." he replied, quickly climbing atop his trainer's shoulder.
As Ash settles a hat over his head, he smiled, "We'll be back soon, so they won't notice us gone. Okay, Pikachu?" Pikachu nodded in response, and they were soon out in the Lumiose City streets.
